Pray For Our Nation!

The best-equipped army cannot save a king, nor is great strength enough to save a warrior. Don’t count on your warhorse to give you victory— for all its strength, it cannot save you. But the Lord watches over those who fear Him, those who rely on His unfailing love. He rescues them from death and keeps them alive in times of famine (Psalms 33:16-19 NLT).

Today is Memorial Day and we as a nation are honoring those who have served our country in the military and have given the ultimate sacrifice. As we take a day to relax from work and spend time with family and friends, let’s also take some time today to pray for the families of those who have had family members killed while serving in the armed services. Let’s also take some time to pray for our nation.

So many today are oblivious to the sacrifices necessary to secure our freedom. Freedom is not free. Our salvation cost Jesus’ the ultimate sacrifice of His soul being made an offering for our sin. He not only laid down His physical life, but actually took our place in hell, literally paying the price necessary to satisfy the claims of Divine justice against our personal sin. Freedom is costly.

Thousands of our citizens have given their lives to secure our freedom to worship, to think, to make independent choices, and to live out life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as we desire.

There are dark forces seeking desperately to pull America apart at the seams. Jesus said that a house divided against itself cannot stand. As we enjoy our freedoms today bought by others’ battlefield blood, let’s pray for this nation. I am personally praying 1 Corinthians 4;5 - asking God to bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts of those who serve in offices of government, from the President, to the Congress, Senate, Supreme Court, Governors, judges, mayors, and all who serve with them.

Our national government is filled with corruption, lies, deceit, and complacency. And it is taking a heavy toll on our blood-bought freedoms. As the church of Jesus Christ, let’s ask God for a revival of repentance that starts with us in the church, and then filters over into every area of life, from our national leaders and local leaders, right on down to every citizen that is a part of the United States of America.

Without the intervention of God, this nation will fail, just as every nation in history has lost its blessing and its way when it chose the path of self-centered, godless living. Our enemies smell blood. Only God can deliver us. It’s time to cry out. Let’s honor those who have given their life blood for this country by praying for God’s direct intervention in this nation. Without it, we will lose what our soldiers died to give us - our freedoms.

Remember 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NLT): Then if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.
