The Father, The Holy Spirit, And The Word

So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed (Acts 19:20).

Putting God’s Word into practice brings God into the details of your daily life. Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12- Amplified). Practicing the Word causes God to watch over your actions! He pays attention and gets involved when you act like His Word is important to you! Impossible things become possible.

The Holy Spirit is attracted to the Word. He’s called the Spirit of Truth (John 14:17). When we show our love for Jesus by walking in obedience to the Word, the Holy Spirit is pleased!

The Holy Spirit takes the Word that we feed on in our personal times and reminds us of what we’ve heard. But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you (John 14:26).

The major ambition  of the Holy Spirit is to help us act, think, respond, love, speak, and live like Jesus does. As He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17). Be imitators of God (Ephesians 5:1). That’s why it’s so important to adhere to the Word. When we do, the Holy Spirit empowers us to love in negative situations, to encourage others when fear seems to rule a situation, and to expect the best when circumstances turn sour.

Where the Word is esteemed, the Holy Spirit manifests to bring it to pass. He sent His Word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions (Psalm 107:20). For healing to manifest, it’s important to say what God says, and as much as possible, act like you’re healed by believing you receive. This brings the Holy Spirit into the situation with your body. He is the one who materializes the healing that Jesus purchased for us 2000 years ago. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you (Romans 8:11).

I learned as a young man about how attracted the Holy Spirit is to the Word. I was working at a very large church as a janitor after graduating from Bible school. I developed a habit of meditating on specific scriptures as I performed my cleaning duties in the large building. Over and over again as I was revolving a scripture over and over in my mind, the Holy Spirit would speak to me about my life and some adjustment I needed to make.

One morning as I worked cleaning the building all the up to lunch time I was meditating on Matthew 6:33: Seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. As I was driving a short distance home for lunch, the Holy Spirit spoke to me. I heard: What’s first in your life? I responded, Lord, you are. Then I heard, then make Me first in your day. And not long after that I changed my life and became an early riser, spending the first hours of the day with the Lord.

I could tell you of time after time, as I decided to focus on God’s Word, that the Holy Spirit would speak to me about some area of life. I can’t encourage you enough to be a person of the Word. Immerse your life in the WOrd, and God will little by little become more and more real to you.

And then practicing the Word brings you into the realm of the limitless God who is able to do infinitely more than we can ask or think! I’ve been walking with Jesus now for over 40 years, and I have all kinds of examples of things that should not work out suddenly working out! And it’s because in my weakness and hard place I chose to act on what God says. God’s word works!

Take time today to meditate on the Word. Let it roll over and over in your mind. Speak the Word. Say what God says about your circumstance even if it doesn’t seem as though it is true. Intertwine the Word into your work, your family, and your leisure. Become conscious of what the Word says about what you’re involved in today. If you do, and act and speak in line with the Word, then the Holy Spirit will aid you with His ability, and the Father will watch over you and do amazing things. Magnify the Word!
